Mountain Biking Blue Clay Bike Park
#51 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
There has been alot of work with the city to get this turned into a mountain bike park. thanx to the guy with sirbikesalot it is now an awsome network of trail loops. there are a few loops with varied riding levels. it is a nice trail for beginners and more with alot of turnbacks and whoopty whoops. it is mostly flat but makes up for that with technical lines. for more info check out the www.sirbikesalot.com. from collage road or I-40 take exit 420 and go past laney high school. turn left on blue clay road. a few mile up turn right onto juvenile ceter rd. park on the road about 100 yards past the water tower. there is a trail head there on the right.
It was fun and always an challenge.
Thank |this a challenging yet fun coarse. What truly makes it challenging is the amount of endurance you need it is about 9 Miles long if you include beginner and intermediate. There is bumps, couple of jumps, steep hill climbs, and drops. While your doing this you are going 15-25 MPH.
Thank |had a great ride a month or 2 ago. a long ride took the ROOT LOOP so annoying but the rest was fun and going fast and managed to get a lot of air.
Thank |A fun ride with some great flow and banked turns that are a blast to rocket through. The first section has some fun rollers, but after you cross the street you can get a workout going up and down the hill. The "Root" section is aptly named, so be prepared!
Thank |I had a great time at this place. Fyi, the features have all been removed. The main trails have been kept up well. The pump track isn't a pump track anymore. The small berms have a good top edge on them. I am from PA and thought the roots were minimal. Good place to get your skills up after a hiatus!
Thank |Well kept trail with pump track type obstacles throughout trail. Had a lot of fun. Nice that they also have beginner trails. Definitely a must ride if you are in the area AND you can bring the whole family with the very beginner trails.
Thank |The most fun in Wilmington is right here.
Thank |Rode here while we were on vacation. Nice flowy natural single track. We will be back next time we are out that way.
Thank |Upside: Very engaging and keepers have done a good job with maintenance.
Downside: Has a whole lot of roots and very populated with traffic jams.
Thank |Good set up - there's a flat portion of the trail and a hilly portion across the street. Very well kept, can be busy during weekends.
Thank |This trail has had a major face lift in the past 2 years. Many sections have had the trail base raised which makes for a smoother ride. Many berms and rolling dirt features have been added.Plenty of short climbs also.
Thank |Very well groomed trail. Clay was a bit wet and took a little getting used to, but great 6 mile loop.
Thank |Awesome set of trails for someone looking to get their feet wet so to speak. Had a blast riding. Please keep it up.
Thank |I ride this trail a lot, it's a great trail and a lot of fun there are some really tight turns on the backside going up and down the hills which makes it technical in places.
Thank |Very fun w/Rollers and many sharp turns. Careful climbing the small hills as a sharp turn may await you at the peak.
Thank |Wet, still
Thank |It is a little bit rooty but definitely very enjoyable.
Thank |Stopped in while in the area on vacation.
Great system of trails, very well marked and maintained. Great ride including rooty sections, some short climbs (with roots), and really, really fun rollers and banked turns.
Great training/skill builder run for those looking to improve their riding ability.
Thank |First off it does not have huge hills or crazy obstacles. We can't have obstacles for now because the county removed them because someone got hurt some time ago. But we do have a local SORBA chapter now that is dedicated to making the place better. We have done lots of improvements over the last couple months. Almost all of the bridges are brand new and we have done some re routes on the hilly side and beginner side. Yes we do have climbing here not tons but if you ride the whole thing there is well over a 100' of climbing. We also have a pump track there if thats your sort of thing. We have big plans for it but we have to get approval from the county for the stuff we do.
Thank |Amazing trails! Was very surprised at the terrain variation and they have maximized the trails very well. Definately a great place to make a trip.
