Head right at top of woods, taking 1st available left into thick technical rooty section. Loop round
to rejoin main trail. Bear right after open gateway, keeping to singletrack on woodland
perimeter. Beware sudden hidden switchbacks! Turn 90 deg, left before fire road, head slighty
uphill to rejoin fire road for 200m. uphill, the turn right off downhill for more singletrack fun. A
short uphill after a tight lefthander leads to a longer downhill loop to return to fire road avoided
earlier. Croos over and go left, then head gently across/slightly uphill over pine needle covered
ground parallel to fire road. Trail eventually rejoins firetrack. Go right on firetrack (down) for
200m, where there is a junction of trails and usually a tractor/loggig gear parked. follow to left
then turn sharp right (tricky to see) up a short bank. You're in an ancient cornish castle!
Proceed straight through and up blind bank at far side. The trail turns sharp right and dropsinto
the former moat (!!) back up the other side, left, then straight over wide track for a steep
technical descent, over another wide track onto an open, deeply rutted mental downhill to finish.
Phew! Turn left and left again to re-ascend on a pleasant gradual rocky uphill track, heading
straight up at all junctions to return to start of loop. Pick another trail. Go down it. Repeat until
knackered.
