Mountain Biking Mb Johnson Park

#34 of 138 mountain bike trails in Minnesota

Drop in on the trail at the north edge of the clearing, by the highway. It's a fast, smooth trail. Not technical, but they did pretty well for what they had to work with. (Red River Valley...) There a a couple of log rolls and tight hairpins to make it a little more interesting.

It was impressive! Very nice flow ride. Easily go on average of 9-10 mph ride.

MB Johnson is a fun 2 mile trail right along the Red River. Terrain is not difficult, it includes some fun corners and even has some short climbs and descents, really short but this is ND. There are a couple features and some nice bumps that you can catch a little air. Overall this is a great trail in the Fargo/Moorhead area.

Not many miles and no tech. Even so, the trails are entertaining to enough to be worth doing a few laps to get the mileage count up. Some of the dips into the drainage are off camber, making for a little challenge if you try to take them fast. I'd call this more like 2 1/2 stars due to the short length, but what little is there is good enough to round it up to 3.

Fargo/Moorhead is the polar opposite of ideal terrain for building a mtb trail. That being said, MB Johnson is about as good of a trail as you could ask for in the area. My biggest gripe is that it's really hard to follow at points, but with the river flooding every spring there's really not much that can be done about that.

Trails are awesome. Some loose spots of sugar-sand dry black dirt that suck but it's pretty fast right now and only 1 downed tree across the trail.

Ride mbj all the time and also in town gooseberry park. Another fun newer established ride. Each about 4 miles and growing!

Probably like 3 obsticles total , there is about 4 miles of wavey single track along the river bed. River floods anually so trail floods every year. This is the only place to Mtb in Fargo Moorhead area so I find myself at this place more than I wished I could say. Some fun man made obstacles. Dont drive more than an hour to come here

Trees are cleared out and mud dried up. It's riding fast again and clear to explore!

Will want mosquito spray now. They're hungry!

An enjoyable trail to ride. Large fallen tree blocking trail as of sep 8 2014, will need a chainsaw to clear!

After storm, river is half a foot from getting out of its edges, so water is cutting off many parts of the trail. Also, winds dropped a few full trees across the trail, and full branches throughout, it's in very tough shape right now. Very muddy again as well.

Amazed by this place, as FM area has nothing to offer in comparison to this park. A new person could ride here 5 times and keep finding new segments to explore.

That is my only complaint, the "single track" could be marked better to easily follow it, as it has small segments diverting off of it about every 5-15 ft., so it can become a little confusing to stay on the right path to get the full course in. Great obstacles built in tho!

Fun, fast trail. You have to wait till end of June for mud to dry. After that it is four miles of pure fun. Ride it 3 times through for a good workout. 95% single track with 5-6 obstacles.

Length now is a little over 4 miles. There is a yearly race called the flugly towards the end of August, look it up on Facebook "fargomoorhead trail builders"

Good trail for the Red River Valley. lots of fast runing flowwy stuff. some short steep climbs, and at least a few little features. good work out if you work it.

This is a fun trail that is great for an after work lung bust! Just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting and continues to get better and better with time and changes.
