This bike park is fun! With lots of berms, jumps, drop-offs and humps it's got it all... Intermediate and advanced rides will enjoy it more that Auckland's Woodhill trails. Set amongst pine trees and hills, this park is not for the unfit, unskilled or faint hearted.
The park is looked after by the Tauranga Mountain bike club, mtbtauranga.co.nz, and they do a good job. Trails are generally one-way, the surface is firm dirt with no rocks and no gnarly roots. Signage is good too; there are always warnings before those amazing drop-offs. Trails seem to go all over the place but don't worry, just enjoy being lost - it's not a big forest. There's a washdown pad and toilet by the car park.
You'll need a full day to make the most of the park but don't stay too late - you're only a half hour's drive from New Zealand's best beach at Mount Maunganui. And get this - you're just one hour from New Zealand's premier bike park, the Whaka Forest Network, at Rotorua.
It's my local. Great variety, compact rides well wet or dry. Mixture of flow and technical.
Thank |You need intermediate or better skills to enjoy this excellent little bike park. It's very popular with locals so it does get a bit thrashed. The braking bumps were getting bumpy in places when I rode it but I know the local club do a lot of maintenance so they'll be smooth when you ride it. Enjoy!!!
Thank |A great day out for intermediate and advanced riders.
