Ripon Riding Spot

Pretty but more of a single track river cruise than a "mountain" bike trail. Would be perfect for cycle-cross practice or interval work with some sand options.

Road this on a Thursday, like in other reviews there's a lot of squirrels holes , runs along the river. Didn't think much of the track. Lots of traffic on it horses loose dogs golfers.

First time riding the area, mostly doubletrack following the river & singletrack offshoots, some overgrown.
As mentioned, sandy spots, rodent holes especially in technical section with jumps makes speed a challenge.
Is well maintained beach to cool off at near Reynolds park entrance below hwy underpass bridge.

This would be a GREAT SPOT for the more advanced technical rider!
Need some maintenance though, Rodents have burrowed holes in some of the jumps and weeds take over a majority of the track. But still a good ride!

Simple and plain.
Not much traffic.

Lot's of single track criss cross the landscape. Some are clearly marked while others a bit overgrown making the trails a bit more technical. Park at S Parallel Ave and Reynolds Ave and head South from the parking lot. There are several trails on the East side. When you reach the bridge crossing the river, there is a trail head on the West. This is where you will find the best trails and little traffic.

OK, no one told me about the 'hidden' path to the trails on the other side of the freeway... still nothing special, but better than just riding the short

Went on my weekly ride to the trails and found 50% of our network closed off!! Whats up with this??! Hope it re-opens or will have to contact public works for more info. Still a real good ride and good views of the river.

this is the second trail i have been on with dry creek in modesto being my first. this is definitely slower than dry creek but a lot more diverse when it comes to obstacles. there are very narrow paths between trees, roots and logs you have to navigate over and there are a couple ladder obstacles but i didnt ride over any of the ladders. they looked really old and unstable. there is some sand that will definitely slow you down. i almost bit it when i first hit the sand. i will definitely come back because i know there is more out there than what i saw. i never even saw the bmx jumps.

Great network of trails, local bmx track to play around on if your into that...I personally being a current resident and new user enjoy doing the full range after work. Start off of Doak avenue and follow behing jack tone golf and water treatment and then begin the trails and follow all the way to Mavis Stofer Park. When you hit the park...Flip a u turn! Fun, watch out for nats at dusk!

I went here today and I agree with the comment that a lot of the trail is fairly primitive, it just needs some TLC because a lot of it is just plain hard to get any kind of speed going, also due to the some pretty bad sandy parts. But definitely a good trail system just needs some more work. The jump park is fun. All in all not a bad trail for the valley, the Dry Creek Trail in Modesto is a little bit better as far as being hard packed and very rideable compared to this one.

Very nice flat trail system jumps were very fun. Nice ride for beginners.

Nice ride, lots of trails and not too technical. Never crowded! Lots of very primitive trails so invite new riders to come out. Lots of gnats during the fall but fine any other time! Some jumps also that the locals maintain, lots of fun!!!

I'm giving this a 4 because of location. I was raised in Modesto and was so surprised to find this place, so close to my house! It is amazing that the Modesto area has something even like this (it can get a little boring here).

Stay west of the freeway for some technical stuff in the trees, off the main path. In some parts the trail is less than a foot wide, pretty fun to navigate on. Someone was cool enough to build a few small ladder obstacles right by the river. Jump track can get a little busy, but there are a fair amount of jumps. Fun riding that I never knew existed.

it is fun, and a great ride for a quickie.
