Mountain Biking Spring Lake Park
#23 of 128 mountain bike trails in Illinois
Spring lake has 3 different trails (deer, fox and rat). The Fox starts on the south side of the dam just off the parking lot. Its a short fun loop back out almost were you started. Then you can cross the dam and start the deer/fox trail. From there you can follow the signs. To go on rat take the deer and a ways back you can go left onto it. Rat is a very tough 3.5 mile loop back out to deer.
The trails here are tight in some spots and they do have some ladder bridges, log piles and even a teeter-totter. Its is really challenging and the hills just keep coming. I highly recommend these trails. They are a hidden secret of Macomb. Have fun

From Macomb IL go north on hwy 67 then take a left on N. 1500th Rd, there should be a sign for Spring lake. Go about 1.5 miles and turn right into spring lake park. Take that road down to the lake and go left at the bottom of the hill. Head over to the parking lot by the dam (its a dead end).
Good blend of technical features and flow. Great trail to ride if in the area.
Thank |One of the best kept secrets in central IL. Very well maintained by guys who ride; very fun trail.
Thank |Great diamond in the ruff. Couldn't believe my luck when I discovered this place a few years back. Every time I am passing close, I have to make a stop. The singletrack is tight, with great hills and drops that makes you feel weightless at times. Multiple obsticales makes things interesting. The park also has camping, fishing, small bait shop, and boat rentals on site. Plus, the park has no entrance fee. One of the best hidden jems in the upper midwest. Bring your hill climber. Mostly intermediate but very difficicult in many areas.* Review edited 4/24/2012* Review edited 4/24/2012
Thank |Spring Lake is full of drops and burning climbs. It is almost always well groomed. At spring lake you can take the kids or go alone and really tear it up. There are several different trails and I hear there are even more coming. It is a black diamond in the rough.
