Mountain Biking Taliesin / Quartz Loop

****   Add a review
#66 of 417 mountain bike trails in Arizona

A fun quick loop that begins with a gradual ascent of the twisty Taliesin trail, crossing a cement path twice, bearing right. At the signed trail junction, go North on Quartz trail up a short ascent. The trail descends, briefly on double track, before bearing left and descending steeply down a wash. Continue descending gradually through the wash, slaloming between cacti, passing the Paradise trail (signed) on the right. Keep descending all the way down, under the 105th st bridge, to where the trail reaches the golf course -- you'll pass a couple of trail entry/exit points (at one point it's easy to get suckered into a left turn into small park area... you want to keep right instead). At the golf course, you'll be spat out between holes onto a dirt path (part of the Scottsdale city trail system) which goes left onto a wide dirt road. Continue along, following the signs, dropping down to the left and then cranking up a short, steep climb, then proceed on a dirt path around the golf course (holes 2 and 1) back to the parking lot.

We rode this area a few times. Definitely rocky so a beginner would have a difficult time. In some places you are riding creek bed and sometimes climbing major hills.

Pretty fun quick loop for afternoon. Can be a little tricky staying on trail as it has a few unmarked sections.

Just moved here this week and this is right across from our house. Great run with a little bit of everything.

Good single track runs up and down while mixing in some short, steep ascent/descents. Great mountain views too! This will become my regular spot for sure...
