Take Pipeline road, a paved fireroad, from the parking lot along the river and up a steep hill for about a mile. Continue down the hill some until you get to Powder Mill fireroad. Turn left and go up hill until the campground, take another left up Fire Ridge Road to the observation deck for a killer view down to the ocean. Continue down the hill, unfortunately it's a big sand trap for the next half mile. Once Ridge Road crosses Pipeline you get into a sweet forested section. At the next junction go left to the river or right down some steep sections back to Pipeline road. Nothing technical here, just a great workout in beautiful redwoods.

From Hwy. 17 take Mt. Hermon Road exit, drive through Scotts Valley until you get to Highway 9, turn left to go south about 1 mile. Park entrance is on left. Can also take Highway 9 north from Santa Cruz
Lots of good trails here, and a lot of connectors to other great riding. Sandy, but also recovers well from rain because of that.

| ThankBeing a state forest, the mountain biking is targeted more at the family than the hardcore. Not a MTB destination to travel any distance for, but if you are staying in an RV park on the border (as we were) then you may as well...
Several "trails" are available, which range from a bitumen road to some nice fire roads (with no car access, these are better than expected)
The Rincon Trail links up to Pogonip / UCSC / Wilder Ranch.
| ThankThe person that submitted the trail description here has no clue . There are several trails and options here but i would never recommend following any directions that include the words observation deck. You can also ride from cowell to pogonip and back . There is alot of great trails .
| ThankKind of ridiculous. Half of the time I was biking in a sandbox. The views really are spectacular, but the trails are so sandy and eroded that it can be hard to enjoy the ride.
| ThankSandy, pavement and fire road. Not my favorite type of trail. The scenery is pretty good but I probably won't ride it again.
