Mountain Biking Wabun Lake
#235 of 308 mountain bike trails in Ontario
This trail is in a mountainous area and is isolated. The trail is a combination of fire road (at beginning only), motorcycle and deer trails. There are incredible climbs, lots of loose rock, roots, mud, puddles and wildlife. Take your GPS as there are many offshoots. To get to Wabun lake, at first three way fork, take the middle one. At four way intersection turn left. At bottom of hill in field, go right. Across bridge there are three challenging climbs. Take a snack and wear lots of bug repellent. Best after the area dries out a bit, usually sometime in June. Deer flies at worst in July. Mosquitoes and black flies rampant in May, but repellent works against them. Awesome view of lake from top of hydro line.

From Calabogie, continue along Calabogie Rd. to Calabogie Peaks and turn left on Barret Chute Road. Drive to end of road, about 2 km, to dam and park away from fence. Trail is on right.
