With the 2016 North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) in Sacramento, CA, coming up at the end of the month, we’ve been getting plenty of press releases from companies that will be attending. This one from Wittson Custom Ti Cycles in Lithuania really stood out. Regular readers will know that I’m already a sucker for a hardtail but add in Ti as the frame material, and I need to hide my wallet.
This special edition Bestia–built for Wittson’s NAHBS debut–features a full Ti frame (duh) with intergrated seat mast, as well as a rigid Ti fork, also made by Wittson. To keep the bike looking sharp, there is internal routing for the brake hose and shifter housing. The German boutique carbon fiber company, AX Lightness, provides the wheels (tubular, of course), saddle, bar, and stem for the build. SRAM’s feathery XX1 group was chosen as the drivetrain, and Formula’s R1 Racing brakes complete the package.
So how much does it weigh? 7.8 kgs! That’s 17.2 lbs if you don’t feel like Googling it. Of course a bike this chichi is gonna cost you. €9,289 (or $10,500 USD), in this case. But hey, that puts it in the same ballpark as the top carbon hard tails from Specialized and others.
Alright, that’s enough words–enjoy some more shots of this gorgeous bike.
