National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD) is this Saturday, June 11, 2016, and there are events planned all over the USA and the world to mark the occasion. Last year more than 15,000 kids and adults participated.
IMBA says TKMDB exists because:
Bicycling is good, healthy fun, and a gateway to healthy lifestyles. IMBA strives to develop a connection between kids, bikes, and the natural world around them while touching on themes such as bike safety, skills, rider etiquette, nutrition, hydration and sun protection.
If you have kids of your own, make a point to take them riding with you this weekend!

Setting your kid up with the right bike is verry important too. I had bought my daughter a newer huffy 5 speed 20" "MTB" and she struggled on every ride. Then my son grew out of his early 90's specialized hot rock 6 speed and handed it down, HUGE improvement. I never would have thought a brand new bike huffy or not would be worse than an early 90's bike!
They are both on 24" now. My son on a Giant MTX and my daughter on a Treck (with a super low granny gear to help her up the hills on that heavy thing)
