Colton Lock here checking in from Outerbike in Moab, UT with Jordan from Orbea. Today we are taking a look at the 2017 Orbea Loki 27.5+.
The 2017 Loki is set up with a 1×11 XT drivetrain, Shimano M506 hydraulic disk brakes, and a Race Face Turbine 125mm dropper post. It has a 120mm Fox 34 front fork, which makes for a comfortable ride, especially paired with the 27.5+ 3.0 Maxxis Chronicle tires.
Moab’s slickrock trails are chock-full of speed-sucking bumps and dips, but the larger tires really plowed through a lot of those little suckers that eat up normal-sized MTB tires, and helped me keep my speed up. Being a hardtail, this thing climbed great. The plus tires help keep traction and speed uphill. As expected, the tail end bounced around a considerable amount on the technical descent compared to a full squish bike, but the plus tires and low pressure helped with that a bit. I personally am a sucker for hardtails, so I loved the way this bike handled.
