The USA Cycling National Fat Bike Championship will be held at Cannonsburg Ski Area near Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 10, 2018. This is the second year in a row the race is being held in Michigan, and the first time at Cannonsburg. The race is hosted by the West Michigan Sports Commission and local fat bike race series, Winter Rush.

Approximately 150 riders are expected to contest this year’s Championship, which features multiple categories from juniors to masters and a Pro/Open division. Competitors are required to have a valid USA Cycling Race license, and one-day licenses will be available for purchase. Race day registration is not available, but anyone can register online up until race day. Register before this Saturday, February 3rd, to get the biggest discount.

Ahead of the races on February 10, IMBA Executive Director Dave Wiens will be speaking at Cannonsburg on Thursday, February 8 about IMBA, fat biking, and trail advocacy. Registered racers can pre-ride the course Thursday and Friday, and are invited to a reception with live music at the resort on Friday night.

Following the USA Cycling National Fat Bike Championships, the Meijer State Games of Michigan – Fat Bike Race, will take place the next day, February 11, at Cannonsburg.

Not that you need snow to race a fat bike. The US Open Fat Bike Beach Championships are coming to Wrightsville Beach, NC in March. :)
