Five bike shops in Taupo, New Zealand are banding together to hold what they claim will be New Zealand’s biggest bike sale. Combined, these shops offer 33 different bike brands.

Dubbed the “Monster Bike Sale,” this event will take place over the course of two weeks, April 14-29, which coincides with the April school holiday in New Zealand. In addition to a killer sale, any purchase made at the Pack & Pedal, CPC Taupo, Torpedo 7, Huka Cycles, and Top Gear Cycles bike shops over that time period will include an entry into a drawing to win “a luxury cycling and adventure weekend in Taupo thanks to Whakaipo Lodge and Hukafalls Jet,” according to a press release from Destination Great Lake Taupo.

Not interested in buying a new bike? A second-hand bike swap will be held on Saturday, April 21. For riders more interested in selling a bike, a small fee, “100% of which will go towards Kids Bike Taupo,” will get their used bike included in the swap.

The Monster Bike Sale could be the perfect excuse to check out the excellent mountain biking around Taupo. The area offers a massive array of singletrack mountain biking options, including standout rides like the 103km point-to-point Waikato River Trail, the double black diamond Te Iringa, the Craters Mountain Bike Park, Waihaha Hut Track, and more. The town of Taupo carries the same name as the nearby lake, and some 45km of mountain bike trails are located on the shores of the lake as well.
