The folks at Hayes Performance Systems have been busy designing a new Enduro Collection that includes freshly crafted Manitou suspension, a SUNringlé wheelset, Hayes Dominion 2- and 4-piston brakes, and a ProTaper cockpit.
We took a brief look at the new goods as heavy rain fell over the Riva Bike Festival in northern Italy this past weekend. Find all the shiny goods below, starting with the squish.
Manitou Mezzer Pro fork
This recent release from Manitou is not a mere upgrade of previous models, but a new and innovatively-designed long travel fork. Bracing with 37mm stanchions, Manitou claims that the Mezzer is “28% torsionally stiffer than the competition with a weight of 2,000g for the 180mm, 27.5-inch version.”
The new fork comes in 27.5″ and 29″ lengths, with 140-180mm of travel that’s adjustable in 10mm increments. Riders can dial in the fork for their ride style and trail characteristics, with adjustable high and low-speed compression and rebound damping.
Lastly, the new Manitou fork and shock can be serviced in your home shop using tools you likely already own. This detail alone bumps it up on our list of sweet long travel fork options. You can pick up a new fork directly from Manitou for $999.99 (€1015). Find out more about the Mezzer Pro fork here.
Watch for our long term review of the Mezzer Pro sometime this fall.
Mara Pro shock
Manitou’s Mara Pro shock was designed alongside the new Mezzer Pro fork, to provide systematic balance for your bike’s suspension platform. The shock has a switch that restricts oil flow on the climbs while in “work mode” that you can toggle to “party mode” to turn on the fun.
“With world-class performance, reliability, and discrete adjustments for pedal platform, low and high-speed compression and low-speed rebound, the Mara Pro enables the most technical riders to push the envelope and tune their performance without compromise.”
The Mara shock retails for $579.99 (€610) and is available now via the Hayes website.
Dominion 2- or 4-piston brakes
The recently released Hayes Dominion 4-piston brakes made a solid splash in the 2018 gravity scene, and the company has followed suit with a lighter-duty 2-piston offering aimed at trail and XC riders. The 2-piston version uses all of the same technology as its gravity cousin, slightly unweighting the scale at around 303g with mounting hardware, compared to the system with a 4-piston caliper which weighs roughly 310g with hardware.
The lever works with both of the calipers and can be ordered with a shorter reach and smaller lever.
Brakes with either position configuration are available now for $229.99 (€235) each.
ProTaper MTB cockpit
To steer the ship, the Hayes Enduro Collection includes a new ProTaper Carbon handlebar with a 31.8mm clamp diameter and 1/2″ or 1″ rise, or a 35mm clamp option with a 1″ rise. All of the carbon fiber bars arrive at a trimmable 810mm width. Paired with ProTaper’s alloy tank-replica stems, in lengths from 35-50mm and both clamp diameters, this cockpit looks to be a sturdy one.
The ProTaper bars sell for $164.99, and stems retail for $99.
