Conveniently located off of deep creek road. Available parking where Deep Creek Rd and Pack Memorial Trail meets. Grab your bike and gear (Water and Snacks) and start riding/ climbing to the top. A fit mountain biker can make it to the top in about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Beginner and intermediate can take 2 1/2 possibly 3 hours. Once you get to the top its all downhill after that which takes a fraction of the time that it took to climb up. You have the option to ride to Bowen Ranch rd. When you first start there will be very steep inclines. Very peaceful, quiet and beautiful and the views that overlooks the valleys are spectacular! This trail is frequent with mountain bikers so more in likely you won't be alone. This depends on the time and day of the week. There will be a couple of non maintained forks when climbing but just stay on the main trail/ fire road.
Did it this morning with a couple of my neighbors. It's just a steep climb to the top. Everything is dry now so nothing really fascinating about this area. Take a lot of water if you plan to climb this trail on your bike. I notice that the people that live in this area tend to watch the cyclists that uses this trail. Why? I don't know- maybe nosy? There is a grave marker at the beginning of this trail to the side of it. Apparently a lady died here. They have her grave marker and pictures. We parked our truck kinda next to it.The start of the fire road is really steep. I had to walk it up to the area where I was able to get back on my bike and ride up. If this is your first time don't expect to ride all the way to top. You have to be really fit to ride this non stop to the top. I had to hike my bike a couple of times but still got a really good work out doing that.
Thank |It's a bitch going up. There's a lot of areas where the dirt sand can be soft but its a workout. Going up is a fire road. Took me longer that I expected. A lot of quads and motorcycles to. It's nothing forest and all desert riding but it's cool. One you get to the top the views are nice. Dry but nice. Saw a lot of trails on the top. Next time we go up we plan to come back down on another trail. We will more in likely will take the singletrack that will either take us to deep creek or the one that takes us to the dam.
Seen the youtube video that inspired us to ride it
