Mountain Biking Great Lake Pathway

**   Add a review
#92 of 171 mountain bike trails in North Island
#9,970 in the world

The Great Lake Pathway also know as the Lions Walk or the Great Lake Walkway is an easy, flat, wide, hard-surfaced, two-way, shared pathway that hugs the shore of Lake Taupo for 12 kilometres. On a fine clear day in summer it's glorious - a beautiful series of postcards with serene views over the lake to the volcanoes beyond. Lord of the Rings fans will recognise the cone of Mount Doom (Ngauruhoe) to the right of Mount Ruapehu in Tongariro National Park.
