Mountain Biking Gooley Club Trail to the Confluence

This is a seasonal dirt road (there is a plan to make it a snowmobile trail in the winter).

Check out the map in the photos.

Lots of ups and downs. Depending where you start, there is a barrier on the right, a couple miles in, that is about a mile spur to the Confluence where the Indian River joins the Hudson River. Around 10 a.m. on rafting days the river rises about 1-2 feet, when there is a release of from the Chain Lakes Dam.

About a a mile after the Confluence spur is the Gooley Club (a former hunting camp). I think that camp will not be there by 2020 as it will be left to self-destruct.

From that barrier at the Gooley Club you can ride to either Clear Pond (one of two ponds in Indian Lake named that) which is 1.5 miles in (left at the Y) or 2.7 miles to the Cedar River. Some day the trail will go on if they are able to build a bridge at that point.

Getting there
Head east from Indian Lake to the Chain Lakes Road (where the town dump and beach is located). The road turns into the Gooley Club road. During different seasons there are barriers set up along the road. Oct. 1, 2017, barriers were open all the way to where the Gooley Club is located. There are many places to park along the road. There is a lot by/for Bullhead Pond, but during the rafting season (spring to fall = Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday) that lot is full. Bullhead can be biked, but it is only about a mile in... it is a nice beginner trail with a destination (Bullhead Pond - popular fishing spot).
