Mountain Biking Air line trail
#73 of 114 mountain bike trails in Connecticut
The air line trail is double track connecting the two parks. Goodwin seems to have flowy trails that lead to natchaug where there are more rocky and technical trails

Turn on to potter road from rt. 6 and the lot is 300 feet up on the right.
Ive been riding Goodwinn/airline Trail for a couple years now, and I have to say it has a lot of potential to be a great place to mountain bike. Keep in mind, there are a lot of hikers, and horseback riders throughout the spring, summer and fall. My best advice if your looking to explore here is to grab a map at one of the trail heads and start riding or print one out online at CT.Org Some trails are for walking only so keep that in mind, but there is a mix of extremely mild climbs, singletrack, doubletrack and rock gardens and very mild downhill. I do know Nemba Quiet Corner Group rides here quite a bit and knows Goodwinn like the back of their hand. Catch a group ride and I gurantee you will not be disappointed. Scotts Cyclery is a close bikeshop in Willimantic so if you run into bike issues, its not a far drive to see if he can get you back up and riding, Scott is a great guy and very knowledgeable about bikes, has been in business for over 42 years. I would highly recommend stopping by to just take a quick browse. Ive ridden hardtail and full suspension bikes here and both are a blast to ride at Goodwinn. Goodwinn is my hometown spot to ride in and with the amount of trails and loops it offers you could spend a whole weekend riding the trails and not hit everyone. Or combine the main trails and ride into the Nautchaug that connects to Goodwinn. Overall a great place for family rides, to Expert Riders wanting to pump out some miles. Overall a great place to explore.
Thank |The Airline trail itself is not really a mountain bike trail. It's mainly a flat, hard packed, wide, multi-use, rail to trail. The best kind of bike to really take on it is a grinder or CX bike, though even an endurance road bike can be ridden on it. If you've never ridden a mountain bike before, or riding with children, this might be an okay place to start. It is scenic and stretches for miles.
There are however many parks and areas connected to the Airline trail, and the Airline can be a good jump on/off connector in this regard, though many of them are not marked, and require some exploration.
