Mountain Biking The Trails at Jakes Rocks
#13 of 293 mountain bike trails in Pennsylvania
Jakes Rocks features world-class trail construction, which earned it Pennsylvania's "Trail of the Year" award in 2024. When you ride Jakes Rocks, it's immediately evident how well-designed and constructed the trails were. The builders began with a blank canvas, and so were able to create an artfully-crafted stacked-loop trail layout so that beginners, intermediate riders, and advanced riders alike can find something that they enjoy and have reasonable access to the goods.
In fact, the trail system is so well-built that even different types of mountain bikers will find themselves thoroughly enjoying the trails. Riders who just want to get sendy and don't want to pedal far can crank out fast laps on the Black Snake and Devil's Drop jump trails, which are located right next to the paved road for easy access. Endurance-oriented riders can pedal the longer loops, which feature a more up-and-down nature. Trails like Elijah, Longhouse, and Bent Run can be combined with others to create a lengthy ride, as well as providing access to the trail system from different aspects of the mountainside.
