Mountain Biking Hylton Park
#101 of 171 mountain bike trails in North Island
There is perhaps 15km of singletrack in Hylton Park. Most of the tracks are two-way and the signs are sketchy so it's not particularly visitor friendly but it's not huge so you're never lost for long. Just head up towards the top and find a likely looking track heading down. There is nothing extreme that isn't avoidable. Some work has been done developing jumps and other fun stuff but most of the riding is old-school - it's good if not whoopee.

From downtown Wanganui head north for about 5km up the river on Somme Parade, then turn left into Brunswick Road. The park entrance is on the right in less than a kilometre, just opposite the fertiliser works. Park on the road.
Hylton Park is good for a few hours exploring if you're ever in Wanganui. Some of the riding is out in the open, some is through pine trees. There is some interesting benched trail along the side of the hill and some steep entry jumps as well as the usual humps, curves and drops - usually fairly mild.
