Mountain Biking The Blue Highway
#20 of 28 mountain bike trails in Manitoba
The route proceeds adjacent with the hiking trail before veering off to the right over the creek. Presently, the bridge structures to allow a dry crossing have been washed out from heavy rains in June 2016. The trail then takes a serious upturn and follows the only significant climb along a switch backed muddy - dirt section.
When you reach the summit, you will then proceed along the rock of Canadian shield for the remainder of the trail. Rocks painted blue have been laid out to mark the trail when the smooth rock would otherwise be confusing. Cairns also mark the way between Blue Highway sign posts.
The trail end is marked with a cairn topped with a cracked helmet and bike tube. There is a short loop here that finishes with a sweet little climb.
When wet, the trail is particularly challenging, as the rock is especially slippery.
