Mountain Biking Slickrock
#84 of 256 mountain bike trails in Wyoming
Follow the doubletrack south to the large slickrock playground. The area is generally ridden counterclockwise around the giant sandstone outcrop, but it is also possible to explore the interior.

From Cody, go east on highway 16/20 about six miles (about 4 miles past the airport) and turn south on the dirt road (Bluebird Lane). Drive to the cattle guard and begin the ride there.
This is a unique ride, and from the starting point, there's no indication of what awaits. After some boring doubletrack and some not-so-inspiring singletrack, the trail hooks around a series of slickock ledges overhanging the flats hundreds of feet below. The "trail" disappears, but the route is really just a series of rock sections connected by sandy singletrack which may or may not be visible at any given time. The rock provides stunt opportunities galore from big step ups to rollers to hucks, to a serious trials course material. Where the "route" crosses rock, there's always a variety of choices, so there's something to amuse and challenge riders of all levels.
