Coming from Reno, Tahoe, or Carson City, you'll be driving up Mt. Rose on 431 (Rose Hwy). On the South side of the mountain, just a ways down from the summit there is a big parking lot with bathrooms and interpretive signs on the West side of the Hwy (Left side of the road as you're heading down hill). That is NOT the trailhead. Keep going South about 1/2 mile and you'll see the only other parking are with bathrooms on the Left side of the Hwy. The parking lot is terraced and the bathroom building is near the bottom and not obvious from the Hwy. The trailhead parallels the Hwy, and is right next to the Hwy going South (down).
