Mountain Biking Toll Gate and Stoney Creek
#139 of 193 mountain bike trails in South Island
In the words of the Queenstown and Wakatipu Mountain Bike Trail Guide...
"Warm up on Toll Gate for some drops, gaps, rollovers and rock gardens. Then go on to Stoney Creek with some bigger features and gnar down an old creek bed."
These are extreme downhill trails. They are rocky, rutted and narrow with unforgiving drops.

From Queenstown head out to the Remarkables Ski field road. There is a cattle stop two kilometres up that road and both trails start about ten metres below it. There is no sign.
These trails are very short - you barely get started and you've reached the bottom. They don't appear to get a lot of use, although they are in quite good shape. The drops are the features I remember - you have to get them right but the run-outs are usually reasonable. Slip Saddle out on Coronet Peak is a better and more sustained downhill ride.
