Mountain Biking Coal Creek Open Space Preserve
#320 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
Coal creek has very fast flowy trails, easy enough for beginners yet when attacked at speed the alpine descent is fun for advanced riders looking to increase speed and go to the edge of grip. There are many rollers along the trail that can be jumped if that's what your in to, but they're made so beginners won't be intimidated or hurt. Fun for all levels and a great place to train and progress skills in speed and grip.

Go up Alpine road until you see a gate that says do not block, this will put you at the bottom of the dirt section of alpine. Alternatively you can drop in the top off page mill by Montebello open space, or into Crazy Pete's off Skyline.
Beautiful ride through the woods but I don't love trails that are just straight up and then straight down.
Thank |This was a fun trail. It was my first time out so I am definitely at beginner level. I am used to road cycling and trail riding is new. I thought I would give this location a try. It was all uphill for as far as I got and I had to walk my bike a lot; however, experienced bikers were riding up. Coming back down was a ton of fun! I am definitely going here again and will train to ride all of the way up.
The area was beautiful and the majority of people whom I ran into were on bikes. Fantastic trail!
