This is a great trail for beginners as it is fairly flat with gentle rolling hills for the most part. You will see the sign for Joachim Valley Trail at the gate there. Go around gate onto double track and follow for quite some ways, passing an old graveyard. There will be an obvious trail to the left, which goes thru a dip, follow this trail. It is an enjoyable ride to the airplane wreck, which is used for search and rescue training. This is a good turn around point for riders just starting out. If you continue on past the airplane the trail goes to the edge of William A Switzer Park. Carry on pass the sign and the trail kind of goes along a field and then is visible again to the right, and crawls up a hill. Then you whoosh down the trail into an area that is beautiful in the fall due to the leaves colors (to the right) and thru a short, often wet section. On the other side you follow the trail around a knoll and thru the trees and up to the railway tracks. follow these in the same direction you are already going. The trail drops down away from the tracks and continues on. You will drop down a sandy hill to what is known as Peppers Lake Road, turn to the right and ride up the hill. A little ways down the road there is a trail to the right (double track) take it, you will feel almost like you are turned in a 180. This is a slow gradual hill and eventually you will have to cross the railway tracks. This will put you back onto the original road (double track) you started on. You will recognize where you turned to go to the plane as well as now the graveyard will be on your opposite side. Ride back to your vehicle.
