The Vista picnic area offers visitors excellent views of the dam and portions of the Naugatuck River Valley. The streamside environment is popular for fishing and upland game hunting. Riding trails are provided for seasonal trailbikes and snowmobiles. A radio-controlled model aircraft field, open to the public, is maintained by volunteers. From Thomaston, north on CN 222. The Dam and project office will 3/4 of a mile on the left hand side.
Nice area and trails but nothing too exciting. There are nice views of the reservoir and this is a good place for a beginner to learn their bike. You can, in spots, hop onto the Mattituck Trail (MT). Parts of the MT run through the White Memorial Foundation property and some are bikes/horses prohibited.
