Start on road #541 and 188 junction approximately one half mile east of the historical Charcoal Kilns site in the Birch Creek Valley.
This trail starts out as doubletrack near the Charcoal Kilns and turns into non-motorized singletrack in Mammouth Canyon. The trails were used to access woodcutting for the historical charcoal kilns over 100 years ago. Some remnants of stacked wood cut over 100 years ago remain along upper sections of the trail. The trail starts out easy and increases in difficulty to advanced the farther you go up Mammouth Canyon. The upper canyon trail is rated advanced. Be sure and visit the historic charcoal kilns while you are in the area.
