From the Charcoal Kilns parking lot, head north on road 533 approximately 1500 feet and take the two track route northwest where it forks off road 533. Follow this route until it drops down into Coal Kiln Canyon. Proceed up Coal Kiln Canyon on the two track and singletrack to approximatley the 8,720 foot elevation level where the trail gets steeper and seems to dissapear. The trail is steepest in the higher elevations.

The Coal Kiln Canyons trail provided access for wood cutting for the Charcoal Kilns over 100 years ago. The trail starts out easy on doubletrack and progresses in difficulty and steepness to the advanced level as it climbs higher up Coal Kiln Canyon. There is a plethora of two track trails in the Charcoal Kilns area so routefinding to the main canyon trail is important. Enjoy the downhill on your way back out!

There are several other great intermediate/advanced trails in the Charcoal Kilns general area. Most start out easy and get more difficult as you progress up the canyons. Some of these other trails are Rocky Canyon, Bell Mountain Canyon, Mammouth Canyon and Meadow Canyon.
