****   Add a review
#207 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
#5,059 in the world

first mile is lungbusting climbs with little flow, this tapers off into fast flowing singletrack and eventually fire rds and back to rocky singletrack finally bringing you to cedar point, the highest point in rockingham county overlooking the Mayo river

This trail apparently no longer exists. I found a trailhead sign, but could not follow it more than a few yards before it disappeared.

Hit Ferris park after work today. Definitely felt like I was on a XC race course. I had the Rocky Mountain Slayer with me not the best choice based on full suspension, weight and tires. I run Panaracer Fire Fr tire that are much like a motocross tire. So the were very loose on a hard pack fast trail like that. I do believe I have found my lunch break course during the work week in Ferris and a perfect match for my Trek hardtail. Definitely looking forward to burning it up with the Trek under me. Great fast XC build enjoyed the nice balance of ascending and descending and the switchbacks are are perfectly placed and built. Like I said looking forward to putting the Trek on the course and seeing how fast I can run it!!!!

Fun trail. It is an out and back trail that has a mix of climbing, stream crossings, rocks, switchbacks, and flowy sections. My only wish is that it were longer though. The Cedar Point overlook is a pretty spot to rest and enjoy the view.

Rider questions

Q: I don't believe this trail is open to bikers. Can someone confirm or deny?
A: I was mistaken about which trail this question was about with my earlier response. Sorry! I was talking about the Farris Park Trail. The McMichael trail appears to no longer be open at all!
