Mountain Biking Buffalo Burn Trail

Trail heads west through a larger burn area in Bufffalo Creek. Somewhat flat ride with sweet singletrack in and out of burned and non-burned forests. Go from south to north to enjoy a mostly downhill ride. And go during sunset for spectacular views.

Getting there
From the Little Fraggy parking lot up top of Buffalo Creek. Head to the north end of the parking lot and then take the fire road north for about 1/8 of a mile. The Buffalo Burn trail is on the left. This is a loop that will eventually lead you back to the fire road.

Really enjoyed climbing this trail. It seems like the type of trail that would be nice to ride in either direction. And it is sooooo much better than the nearby, sandy, double wide section of the CT.

This is one of the most pleasant stretches of singletrack in the Buff Creek system and improves a number of routes vice the Colorado Trail.

This is good way to bypass much of the section of CO Trail/doubletrack as you enter off of Route 126. The trail is skinny singletrack, generally rolling, and like much of the Buffalo Creek network, covered with loose granite sand and gravel. It's a good start to a great loop: Start at the parking area at Buffalo Creek Road. Ride up the hill on 126 to the Colorado Trail (middle ring, not too steep and a decent shoulder most of the way). Cut into the Colorado Trail and immediately drop into Buffalo Burn. Reconnect with the CO Trail and take to Shinglemill. Shinglemill downhill all the way to Buffalo Creek Rd. Left on Buffalo Creek Road to Baldy, climb Baldy and then work over to Charlie's, Morrison, Sandy Wash. Altogether 22 miles, 2850 ft. of climbing.

We ride this after we ride the Colorado Trail out and back. If you hit it right at sunset, it's a pretty amazing experience. This trail is not technical and there is pretty much all downhill if you ride it from south to north.
