Mountain Biking North Mocassin Trail
#271 of 319 mountain bike trails in Idaho
At Buckhorn Junction is a big Trail Sign Panel. The North Mocassin Trail takes
off just on the south side of this panel and climbs gradually at first on an old
road.
The trails then descends for about 1/2 mile and another short climb. Here the
trail gets rocky but nothing too crazy if you have full suspension, there are
plenty of good fast lines through those rocks.
After the steep rocky section the trail rolls onto better soil and through bigger
trees. Look for a trail sign on a tree and go left. If you come out in the large
meadow you have gone too far.
From the sign the trail follows an old road and contours for about a mile. There
are some short stream crossings but nothing unridable. After the last stream
crossing continue to contour to a trail blockage where a singletrack drops down
to the North Mocassin Trailhead and the road.

From Salmon head south on US93 to Shoup Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow
the main paved road, this is the Williams Creek Road. Continue along this road
after it becomes gravel and past the switchbacks. Just above the switchbacks is
the Williams Creek Picnic Area, this is where the Powderhouse Trails come out.
Continue on the main road all the way to the top of Williams Summit, go right
staying left of the metal building. This is the Ridge Road, it is 2 miles to
Buckhorn Junction and the shuttle dropoff.
