Mountain Biking Kirby-ivers Town Forest

  Add a review
#71 of 114 mountain bike trails in New Hampshire
#14,295 in the world

Kirby-Ivers Town Forest is a beautiful northern hardwood forest with stone walls, large ledge outcroppings, switchbacks, steep ascents and decents, and areas of wetlands spread over 86 acres. Composed of a mixture of singletrack, doubletrack, and 4x4 sections there are two official blazed and marked hiking/mountain biking trails maintained by the Town of Pelham Conservation Commission and Parks and Recreation Department.
Papillon's Path is a 1.0 mile lollipop blazed with yellow tree markings. From the parking area follow the Trail signs to enter the stem and ascend to the top of the hill. Once at the top of the hill follow the markings and cross the stone wall to enter the main trail section.
Tom's Trail is a 0.4 mile loop blazed with blue tree markings that splits off from and re-enters the East side of Papillon's Path.
The two trails can be ridden independently or as a figure-eight in either direction; the varied terrain and elevation changes make for a differing and challenging ride.
Although OHRVs are prohibited on all Pelham public lands there are also dozens of unofficial unmarked trails in Kirby-Ivers Town Forest that have been blazed by ATV and Motorcycle riders entering the trail system from abutting private land. Once inside the main trail section most of these unofficial trails stay within public land however many of the trails branching from the stem cross private land and terminate in backyards of private homes.

Once on NH 111A (Windham Road) travel 1.7 miles and look for the green Kirby-Ivers Town Forest sign on the right-hand side of the road across the street from Sunrise Farm (375 Windham Road, Pelham, NH 03076). The sign is located just after a blind right-hand bend and is easily missed.
