Mountain Biking Ausable Chasm

****   Add a review
#43 of 301 mountain bike trails in New York
#2,143 in the world

Seven color-coded marked loops that all start/finish at the parking area. Mostly singletrack, but not too technical. Very few roots or rocks and very dry... no mud!!!

Major improvements in summer 2015, now over 20 miles of trails, mostly singletrack! Seven marked loops for beginner through advanced riders. There is a fee for trail use because the trails are managed by Ausable Chasm Campgrounds. To pay go to campground building (on the left of route 373 when headed towards Port Kent), it is $5 for the day. Bike rentals and trail maps are also available in the building.

Smooth rolling all around with a more technical Chaos segment

Nice flow, locals are building new trails often. Pink is the newest, they asked us to help and ride it. I did and would recommend it, then black is my next favorite. Rain doesn't cause much trouble for these trails

Stopped here on my return from Kingdom Trails VT. Great riding after mountain goating through Kingdom. The black diamond trails are mostly singletrack with good grip and few surprises. Trail markings are some of the best I have seen. Megadeth loop was my first ride, lots of fun. Medusa short and sweet, Punishment Due and Dystopia brought some brief challenge. My next loop was The Trooper a blue square. Mostly double track, would be a good sprint or ride with a kid. Back to a diamond Anthrax was next. Great loop, overlaps Medusa!! One thing to watch is the 1-2 inch stumps that are in the trails from time to time. Can't wait to return. Blackened and Overkill up next.... Slayer too.

Lots of sandy smooth trails. Some doubletrack but mostly singletrack. I rode everything here in 3 easy days. The Megadeth loop was my favorite loop, and the Punishment Due trail was probably the toughest here. Dystopia had some tough fun obstacles as well. Lots of easy stuff for the kids too.

Great riding on lots of twisty singletrack. Over 20 miles of trails. Not many rocks/roots and Porous soil dries out really quickly... no mud! Totally worth checking out!!!

Great Trails! Hard sand base. Double track on outside of trail system and single in the center of system. More trails are being cut summer 13! Some fun little down and up sections with some jumps and banked turns. This system is integrated to the Wickham Marsh system. Must be over 10-12 miles of trails. Must ride for all XC abilities.
