Mountain Biking Goldwater Lake (Trail 396)
#69 of 416 mountain bike trails in Arizona
You can ride this trail in either direction, and will start out climbing no matter which you choose. Known for its twisty singletrack, this trail traverses through the trees, is mostly shaded, and has views of Goldwater Lake. The descents are equally pleasing. You can connect it with Schoolhouse Gulch to make a loop.

You can start from either the White Spar Campground Parking Lot or the Senator Highway parking lot. To get to either one, head south from downtown Prescott on either 89 or Senator Highway. The White Spar Campground parking lot is on the left and the trailhead is pretty much right there. The Senator Highway parking lot is also on the left if you choose this end of the trail to begin.
I rode this trail in the afternoon, just after a little rain.
Thank |Nothing but smiles here.Great trail for everyone.
If this is not challenging enough, just keep searching.Prescott has sweet single track if you search for it..
I saw a beautiful coyote and deer near by..
This is a great option in the summer when the sun is hot. It's mostly in the shade and provides a good out and back from White Spar campground.
Thank |Great and fun trail in Prescott, it is fast and built well!
Thank |One of the most popular trails in Prescott. There are sometimes horses and often hikers, but it's still well worth riding.
Thank |Fun trail. The climbs are not too strenuous but you can push them to get in a good workout. The descents are fast for the most part and keep you on your toes. No part of the trail is very technical. Well conceived and constructed.
Thank |This was an awesome trail! I live in the phoenix area, but like to take day trips to prescott, flag and sedona to get out and do some biking. This trail didn't disappoint. I started on the side opposite the lakes which was mostly climbing, but the ride back was amazing. Very fast and lots of fun cornering and had a great flow.
Thank |Good trail. Well engineered. One of those trails you wish was a lot longer. Nothing real technical. Fast and flowy on the descent.
