Short, steep ups and downs, and sandy, which means that when other trails are too wet to ride, Boyd Pond is usually in good shape.
There is a lot of trail packed into a little footprint, so the trail winds back onto itself throughout most of the ride. A good suggestion is to ride with someone knowledgeable about the trail for the first time. In part, this is because sometimes people unintentionally 'shortcut' sections of the trail and these shortcuts can confuse someone not familiar with the trail. Most folks typically ride ccw, although either way is fine.

Lots of up and down, twists and turns. Fairly fast.
Thank |Gave me a workout with the short back and forth trails but will be back again to ride indeed.
Thank |Even after ALL THAT rain, its dry and stable! Nice!
Thank |Twisty, turney, up, and down. This little loop has it all. It will keep you on your toes. Makes for a great workout !
Thank |Short, but enjoyable trail pretty close to Aiken. Overall it's in great shape and improvements have been made including a few trail maps throughout (though the trail is obvious even without them). This certainly isn't FATS, but it's great for a peaceful ride or a solid workout if you push it.
Thank |The trail system is great has a lot of switchbacks but is in desperate need of a controlled burn. The pine straw is so thick you lose control. It is hard to keep track of the trail. If it were not for the orange flags used to mark the trail I would have been lost. Trail system has a lot of potential just needs some maintenance.
Thank |Fun single track that is more technically challenging than most trails in the area with some fun rocky downhills, lots of sharp turns, and good climbs.
Thank |Great single track. Its about 5 miles of single track that has been laid out really nicely with good use of terrain. It flows really nice and fast through the hills and pine tees. Got to do laps to get a longer ride in but the trail is fun. Worth checking out if you are close by.
Thank |great trail
Thank |Fun trail, a little confusing in parts do to all the pine straw. A few areas go from novice to experienced without warning. Overall a lot of fun to ride.
Thank |Tight and twisty singletrack that drains very well. Gets a little redundant after a while but still a felt like a good use of limited land. New inner loop right next to the lake adds about a mile of trail. The new loop has a lot of off camber turns and steep sections followed by sharp hairpin turns. It needs a lot of work before being a sustainable addition to the trail but it was still worth riding.
Thank |Have walked the lower trail for years and decided to try the Mountain Bike Trail today. Starts with a leg blowing climb just to get into the woods. The trails are easy to follow with lots of turns and quick changes in elevation as you wind up and down the mountain. Being my first time on the trail, I did not help myself by killing my momentum just before the quick climbs. Love the trail and will be back next weekend!
Thank |gets you going right from the get go with a nice hill climb, then it's down, down, around, then it's time to climb again. I love to hate this trail, depending on the day. I have been riding this trail for over a year, and still cannot seem to get up the bridge at clown corner, despite my best efforts. * Review edited 4/9/2012
