The trail is best ridden in a counterclockwise direction. If you park along the Bull Creek road, ride up the Sawmill Canyon Road from the Bull Creek junction approximately 2.5 miles to to the North to road 105. Continue up road 105 approximately 2.3 miles to the junction of atv trail 4076. This is an old road. Continue right up the atv trail 4076 past the closed gate approximately 4 miles to Timber Creek Pass. This is where the singletrack starts. From Timber Creek Pass, continue west and south on Snowbank Trail #4076 back to Bull Creek Road. Get an early start for this ride and take a lot of water or a water filter. You will cross several small creeks. This is a high elevation ride with a low point of 7,000 feet and high point of 9,600 feet. There are lots of climbs and descents and the singletrack is suburb. You may encounter motorcycles on the singletrack and atv's on the atv access trail or roads. There are bailout trails at Redrock Creek and Iron Creek if you dont want to do the full loop. These are not shown on the GPS track but essentially divide the ride into thirds if you want to tackle a smaller portion. The total loop around the perimeter is approximately 25 miles. The views of the Lemhi Range are great. This ride is in the middle of nowhere so be prepared. Best time to ride this route is July-September. It is a high elevation ride so be prepared for inclement weather, ie snow, rain, hail, lightning, fog, etc, on any day. The trail will be very muddy/slick if wet. It is however one of the most scenic long rides in Idaho, on the Salmon-Challis National Forest. There is lots of camping in the Sawmill Canyon area near the trail but may be busy on weekends. Enjoy!
