A mountain bike is positioned near the open doorway of the Boswell Cabin at the Jackson Hill Trailhead. The wooden cabin is rustic, with dark timber walls and a green sign above the entrance labeling it as the Boswell Cabin. Additional informational signage is visible beside the door, providing historical context about the cabin. Sunlight filters through the surrounding trees, illuminating the scene. Mountain Biking Jackson Hill

****   Add a review
#119 of 403 mountain bike trails in Georgia
#3,007 in the world

From the Visitor Center parking lot, the trail goes past the cannons on the hill, which are behind the old cabin and cotton gin. When the trail comes to a gravel road, keep an eye out for small orange flags on metal sticks, these mark where the trails enter the gravel roads before entering the woods again. Jackson Hill was the location of Fort Norton, an eathern fortification system, which defended Rome during The Civil War. The bike/hike trail was opened Fall of 2011. The Assail the Trail mountain bike races were held at Jackson Hill on Nov 5-6. Cycle Therapy on Broad St built the trail and has a map of the trail system. Parking is available in the Rome-Floyd County Visitors Center parking lot.
