Overend Mountain Park was established in 1994 through the efforts of
Trails 2000 and a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). It has
about 12 miles of networked singletrack trails snaking up, down and
around in more than 300 acres of land.
Overend Mountain Park trail network is right on the edge of Durango. It is
quick and easy to get to from town, and has lots of great loop options.
Think of it as an outdoor bike park.
Like The Durango Telegraph Trail System with its multiple trailheads, it is
easy to think of Overend Mountain Park as the north section and the south
section, even though they tie together.
This describes a 5-mile, figure eight loop through the south section starting
from the trailhead behind Manna Soup Kitchen on Avenida del Sol.
Details:
At the end of the cul de sac, turn right on the singletrack and follow Ella Vita
up to Brown’s Ridge. Turn right and follow Brown’s Ridge to Falcon Trail.
Descend to another TH on Avenida del Sol. Turn right up Falcon Way to the
cul de sac and continue to the right briefly.
Continue left on the Falcon Trail singletrack back to Ella Vita. Retrace your
route back up to Brown’s Ridge and turn left.
Turn left again on Hog’s Foot and descend to the junction with Spirit. Turn
left and follow Spirit to the Tech Cutoff. Turn left again and return to the
start at the Avenida del Sol TH.
Fun, easy access.
