Starting on Wolftone Creek Rd. (#102) and using Deer Creek Rd. (#158) to
make a clockwise loop, this route offers great views and a 5 mile single-
track descent down Curran Gulch. The traverse from Wolftone to Curran
Gulch crosses both sides of the 8,000-foot ridge and has scenic wildflowers
through much of the summer. The first half of the route follows several
sections of old forest roads, but the top of Curran Gulch passes by scenic
Buttercup Mountain before dropping into the gulch for a fast and forested
descent. It is possible to drive to the end of Wolftone Road (#102) where
a two-mile ascent leads to panoramic views of the Pioneer Mountains
before traversing across to Curran Gulch. You can also opt for a shorter
route by descending Kinsey Creek mid-loop. Shared with hiker and motos.
Very nice trail to get a sampling of what Sun Valley can offer. Starts out with doubletrack and eases into the high altitude climbing. A good first ride in the area. Very nice views toward the sagebrush flats and a great downhill at the end.
