Mountain Biking Singletary Trails

****   Add a review
#25 of 223 mountain bike trails in Massachusetts
#1,986 in the world

Very tight twisty singletrack connected by fire road. Feels like you're doing many more miles than you are. Trails are rooty with lots of sharp turns and stone wall crossings. Not big on features or stunts but there are some rollers and other interesting parts.

Getting there
From the Mass Pike, take exit for Worcester and 146 (pretty sure it's 10A). Take 146 south. Get off 146 at exit 8. From offramp, go straight off it and then go right onto West Main (weird intersection). Follow for about a mile and a half. When road forks, stay right onto West Main. Park at fire house on left at intersection with Harris. Trails are across the street up gravel road.

Little bit of everything out here, but all very rideable and enjoyable 100%. I entered Rayburn Drive in Milford on my GPS to find an entry point, and if you park on that road directly underneath the big powerlines you'll find at least "an" entrance to the trail(s).
Take the doubletrack under the powerlines heading north, then hook a right into the treeline and there's the singletrack. I took the track that had little stones piled up on either side of the start of it, as s there were a few apparent entrances there, and got almost four miles of track until it finally spit me back out underneath the lines. Nothing too difficult, but not boing either, this place is simply very well designed, and designed for mountain bikes specifically. I'd say it's one of the best I've done in the area.

I'll start with the fact that the TRAIL is located across the street from the fire houses parking lot--you cross (lotta traffic!) and then proceed up a dirt trail that seems to come from out of nowhere, and then voila, you're in. An arrow right off points to the right a little ways down the entry road, so that's where I went, and it goes UP, though you probably wouldn't want to come careening down that portion, either. The entire right-hand side is mostly loose leaves, and ups and downs--leaves made traction pretty difficult on the climbs. But if you head to the left as you enter, that's where the good stuff is. LOTS of trail, and for all I know the entire system takes up a one mile radius, but they loop in and out of each other so much they seem to go on forever.
A couple trees down here and there, and often very confusing markings, if any, to know which way to go next, but once you get the hang of the system, it's a blast.

Very leafy as if its been years since cleared. I would recommend following the map counter clockwise

Great trails...more switchbacks than switchback brewery in VT. If not for my good tracker I would have been lost. Trails not marked.
Got in a good 10 Miles. Super fun, and some challenges.

Singletary is a fantastic collection of tight-knit ST buried in the woods of Millbury. Built by the same cats who did Rayburn, the trails make ultimate use of the space and the trail undulates up and down the area. No huge climbs or downhills, but plenty of roots, rocks, and buff passages to keep you entertained as you wind through the forest. There's a BIG steep roller a few miles in, and after an hour, you'll think your GPS is busted when it only reads 5 miles!

This place is definitely one of the best kept secrets in the area, great singletrack with enough switchbacks to give you vertigo. There are plenty of areas with roots and stumps but not a problem with a decent duel suspension and tires. I have gone there a few times and cant help feel that there is so much more that I am missing. if anyone can find a trail map please post
