This is an intermediate two track/singletrack ride. It is a 5 mile out and back ride but can be extended many ways. The reason for this is that it is a ride to a trail junction that leads to several interesting places. From the parking lot of the San Pedro House ride North back the gravel rode you came in on.
Cross Hwy 90, being careful of car traffic of course. Across the highway is a bike/horse baffle in the fence. Stand your bike on it's back wheel and cross this fence. After a pretty short two track you'll come to the inevitable dry sandy wash. Cross this and look for the metal trail marker leading you to the singletrack going North. It's a fun ride for a while but leads to a pretty steep climb where you may need to get off and push a bit. This trail then gets pretty fun again and will lead to Murray springs. This is a real active spring most of the year. Across the water is the junction with trails that lead West 2 miles to the Clovis Paleo-indian site. Also you can take the trail that heads North and East. It crosses an interesting wooden bridge and leads to the historic Clanton Family Ranch Ruins (about 3/4 mile one way).
Yes I'm talking Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday. This trail also leads North to Escapule Road which is not included in the National Riparian Conservation Area but is one way you could go to continue to get to the Northern trails in the Conservation Area. I'll post these trails later.
