Cone's Dike Trail is not a trail that will offer a great MTB challenge. The terrain is mostly flat and there is not much shade. What this trail will offer is a chance to see some great wildlife and beautiful scenery. On this trail you will see everything from bison to gators so be prepared.

The trailhead is located in Paynes Prairie State Park. It is located just north of Micanopy on HWY 441. If you are coming from I-75 take exit 374 and head east. Drive about two miles and you will come to HWY 441. Take a left and Paynes Prairie is on the left about a mile down the road.
I dont think this trail exists any more. You can still ride the Flat Loop on the Levy in the Barr Webb preservation area. The map is inaccurate and the road going right from Barr webb is private.
| ThankRode on Christmas day. My first ride on my new bike (a Surly Fat tire). Now this bike can handle just about anything but this trail offered some challenges of which I was not up to. It had been 2 days since last rain and the beginning of the trail was fine but once we made the turn towards the grassy prairie via the swamp things got rough. It was early morning and from the droppings, hoof prints and smell, we had just missed the bison and the horses. So the excitement was high. We came to a part of the road that was so muddy, even our Fat tire bikes got stuck and it was tenacious putting our feet down in the muck. I was just glad the gators decided to stay in the water! So with disappointment, we turned around because there was more muck ahead. Even the animals sunk down deep, according to the hoof-prints. My husband did say he saw the hindquarters of a horse far off in the distance. My advice: wait until it has been dry for a week before tackling this trail.
| ThankStarts out interesting enough then just cuts into the prairie flat and straight you could probably ride a rigid frame here and get away with it
| ThankRide this trail if you want to get a peek at some great wildlife such as gators, wild horse, and bison. Don’t ride this trail if you are looking for great singletrack because you will not find any here. Nice trail to get some miles and see some nature.
