Mountain Biking Burnt Mountain Trail #11

Connect to this trail via trail #19 Corn Mill Shoals Trail.

This trail is definitely singletrack, and right off the bat you will realize that it
is gnarly as all get out! Be prepared for some steep, rocky hike-a-bikes, and
even more rocky ascending after that! Some of it is rideable (depending on
your skill level), and some is rideable only if you're going downhill. On the
far east side of the loop, though, the singletrack gets much, much milder
and transitions into a fast, flowy trail. Enjoy the break!

If you like steep climbs followed by technical downhill, you will like this trail. I didn't appreciated it too much since I was at the end of my day and already exhausted. Guess I should have read the reviews before I rode it, probably should have started with it and then I may have enjoyed it more. The technical descent was fun though and very challenging. I had to hop off my bike for one part but if you have 29" tires you could probably make it the whole way down.

Spectacular tabletops, berms, and rock armor on the steep decent. Very fun trail!

We rode Corn Mill Shoals to Burnt Mountain. Awesome downhill that required a dropped seat post. Onwards to Little River and up to Cedar Rock. Listen, no one loves climbing, and if they say they do, they are lying. But this climb was fun. It is almost exclusively up a rock face. As long as it is dry it is very doable. When you get to the power lines, you make a left. The trail is marked by small piles of rocks. If you pay attention, it is easy to find. The climb is consistent and long, but so worth it. You get to the top and it is about a 270 degree view of the mountains. This is why we ride. The downhill Big Rock was also amazing.

More of an intermediate trail -- except for the first .25-mile. Lots of skill-building opportunity on a great trail.

AWESOME TRAIL! I have to agree that the wicked downhill does catch you by surprise but that just makes it sweeter

Great trail - A small part of the Dupont system. Nice flow and good climb and downhill - A decent climb, moderately technical for the most part, BUT there is a crazy steep highly technical section of log drops and rock gardens that caught me by very much by surprise on the descent. I would recommend against bombing down the hill here.
I dont really think that section would be rideable going the other way, But you can always hike-a-bike it. Absolutely beautiful forest.* Review edited 11/27/2011* Review edited 11/27/2011* Review edited 11/27/2011

I loved this trail! The technical challenge was fabulous, the lush undergrowth and deep forest with several stream crossings was just beautiful, and the fast, smooth singletrack on the other side was just a hoot to ride as well! Thumbs up all around!
