A mountain biker leans into a dirt turn on a forest trail, surrounded by trees and lush greenery. The sun filters through the leaves, creating a dappled light effect on the path. A vehicle can be seen in the background, nestled among the trees. Chewacla State Park mountain bike trail.

Mountain Biking Chewacla State Park

****   Add a review
#3 of 98 mountain bike trails in Alabama
#339 in the world

Chewacla State Park is home to 30 miles of diverse trails suitable for mom, pop and the little shredder. The park includes a skill development area, rowdy cross country, sweet flow trails, dialed dirt jumps, and a gnarly free ride area highlighted by the largest road gap in the Southeast.

Chewacla is a park with two faces, the Lower and Upper Chewacla System. The Lower features old school, hand built rowdy cross country ranging from beginner to advanced. The Upper Chewacla Trail System is home to our flow trails, free ride area, and some extended chunky, technical rock sections. The Upper features elevation gains and losses with a number of wooden features to keep riders of all skill level on their toes.

In addition to the trails Chewacla has a variety of on site amenities for off the bike enjoyment. There are a number of both primitive and improved camp sites, as well as CCC era cabins for overnight stay. And for those hot Alabama days Chewacla is home to a large lake, waterfalls and multiple creeks perfect for a post ride soak.

Rider questions

Q: Is there any storm damage after Sunday's tornado? If so, how bad is it?
A: Nope, trails are in good conditions and the CAMP volunteers took care of some trees that came down
