Mountain Biking Pine Log WMA

****   Add a review
#100 of 403 mountain bike trails in Georgia
#2,571 in the world

35 miles of old logging roads and very technical singletrack. Killer climbs to the top with hike-a-bikes at times. Plenty of options for creating loops but you'll probably want to bring a GPS or a guide who's familiar with the area. Note: the overlook at the top of Pine Log mountain is located on private property and trespassing is not allowed.

I'm not sure why I am rating this a 3... I hike this trail - lots of climbing on old fire roads. I can't fathom that I would enjoy biking this... of course I am older than most of the riders these days, but still... it is beautiful here though.

Very disappointed. Arrived at the trail head and it is posted as private land. You are required to have a hunting license or land pass to access this area. There was nobody at the check in building to buy a pass from. Waste of time to head to this area.

There are a lot of great and diverse trails here. They are all unmarked and can be difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for so it would be best to go with someone familiar with the area. Most of the trails are very technical with rock gardens and steep hills. Some local riders have recently added 4-5 miles of singletrack to bypass some of the gravel road sections. This is an amazing place to ride if you are skilled enough and can figure out where all of the trails are.

I only got to ride here for about half an hour and it was all gravel double track. The upsides are beautiful scenery and miles and miles of riding. I never was able to find any single track to ride. Maybe next time.

Have ridden this 3 times now and love exploring more and more of this ride.
Great for strength and cardio building. Single track climbs seem like nothing once you get in the habit of riding this trail.

Gorgeous views with great downhill on the forest service roads. going to try some of the single track (if I can find out) next time out

Like Nickelson said, you can navigate it easily WITH A MAP. Today was my first ride at Pine Log, and I expected to follow the gravel road around the loop. It turns out that there are many roads branching from the main road, and I never found my way around the entire loop. (I have T-mobile, which has almost no coverage). After I got cell signal, I discovered my wrong turn(s).
Nevertheless, it was a great ride, and I had fun exploring the area. The trails range from smooth hard pack, loose gravel, rutted, rocky with occasional mud puddles. After I finished my ride, I noticed that the checking station just west of the parking lot had maps on the front porch - though they weren't very detailed.

This is a great place for training. The elevation here is sneaky in that you will get more than you bargained for. The trails are gravel road, single and double track. They are very poorly marked but you can navigate pretty easy with a map. I have ridden here twice and enjoy the system it offers a lot of exploration. I wouldn't be as inclined to ride here during hunting seasons, but if it's elevation you seek with a short drive from the city this a great place.

What a great workout. The climbs seem to go on forever. Nice views near the top of pile Log Mountain. Watch out for hunters.

Not much single track here but STILL a great place to ride, Did the 30 mile route (you can find the route info on sorba's website.) Killer climbs, really fast downhill sections. I used to hike out here so I was vaguely familiar with the....pretty amazing for being this close to Atlanta.

Rugged, old school mountain biking. Single and doubletrack connected up by a network of old logging roads. Bring a GPS or find someone familiar with the area because you WILL need it. Killer terrain with some seriously challenging climbs and technical rock fields. If you are looking for a smooth ride without having to worry about directions, stay away. If you want a real back to nature experience, come on out.
