Very doable as an out-and-back, this trails is a relatively flat mix of dirt singletrack, doubletrack, and a few
gravel and rocky sections. It is very rideable for all experience levels, and follows an infrequently used railroad
line, crossing back and forth over it a few times. There are many splits in the trail, but they are never more
than .1 miles or so, and are either the same difficulty or very obviously up a steep hill and back down. A
mountain bike is recommended, but you could get away with riding a cyclocross bike.

From the intersection of Cerrillos Road and St. Francis Drive, go South on St. Francis 3.4 miles to a T-
intersection. Turn right onto Old Agua Fria Road and continue 0.6 miles. Cross a railroad track and immediately
turn left into a dirt parking area.
OR ride the paved rail trail from downtown Santa Fe going South, and it turns into the unimproved trail.
Really hard not to rate this trail with highest number because it's well marked, maintained and very popular among bikers and hikers/runners
| ThankIt's not your typical singletrack but great place for relaxing ride with family or full speed blasting if you feel like pedaling . Either way it's one of those trails you can ride in winter when other routes still under snow
Starting at Santa Fe community college, it's a mild climb up to the RR tracks. But, the reward is a fast return with lots of curves to practice cornering technique in loose gravel.
| ThankWhile it's not exactly a rail trail (the trail does not sit on an abandoned railroad bed, but rather parallels an existing railroad), it is very rail-trial-like, especially for the first mile and a half (starting from the trailhead in town on Rabbit Road), which is semi-truck wide and groomed to perfection. After that, there's mostly doubletrack and even a little singletrack. By not being on the railroad bed with its bridges and built up platforms to keep it flat, there's lots of ups and downs through all the coulees. There are often junipers blocking line of sight, so you can't always just open it up for fear of hikers or oncoming traffic. There's nothing technical at all along this trail's entire length. The best use of this trail is to put on lots of miles. The ultimate outing is to ride the full distance down to Galisteo Basin Preserve, jam on the singletrack there, and ride back for epic distance without epic technicality.

| ThankAs easy or as hard as you want it to be. I kept the pace pretty slow and this was a great way to move my legs a bit on days between mountain biking with a lot more climbing. It lacks any technical challenges, but its dirt and super close to downtown Santa Fe.
