This is a one way trail and does require a shuttle. Leave one car @ bottom of Second Left Hand Canyon off U-143 or use any of the shuttle services in Brian Head. It will usually cost about $20 per rider. The trail Starts at 11,300 ft. and quickly drops as you roll off the top of Brian Head Peak with amazing views to Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument. The first 1-2 miles are tame then the trail drops steeper and becomes rockier in sections. You twist and turn through spruce and aspen strands and skirt alongside a creek a few miles and down through a lava field (keeping left all the while) and staying right past the Scout Camp fork. Soon you will come to Second Left Hand Canyon Rd. go left (down) for an easy 6 mile cruise to the pick up location /shuttle p/up.
wow that is the best trail in the world. I love the part when you first come to the first cliff and drop off to the left. I also loved when i got going really fast and turned to the left on to the side. the sidewalls are really fun. best trail ever!!!
| ThankGreat trail. steep at the beginning then mellows out. when you get on the fire road keep and eye out for the single track that dips off to the right. if you see a gate you went about 300 yards too far. there is orange flagging near the single track trail head. the rest of the trail has some (about 12) blown down trees. After the trees the trail speeds back up and is smooth sailing down to the canyon.
| ThankI rode this trail back in the summer of 1998 while working at Zion National Park. I was riding a GT rigid bike wWOW, what a trail! To this day I think that that was the most fun i've ever had on a trail. I rode from the top all the way down, hit the highway and rode in to town where a buddy picked me up. I had blisters on my hands (no gloves), and by the time I hit double track fire-road I had to disconnect my back brakes because the rear rim was bent up pretty bad from a crash. Love, love, loved this trail and would love to ride it again some day.
