Mountain Biking Western Territory

*****   Add a review
#32 of 112 mountain bike trails in West Virginia
#3,766 in the world

I'm not sure of the distance, I did not map it. This is a downhill race course with about 10 trails(it seems) Its a ski slope, and it is SERIOUS! You ride down the mountain, then catch a shuttle back up.Very technical, very fast, lots of rocks, roots, twisty, ride your rear brakes a whole lot! Only for experienced riders, but man, I finally know what guys mean when they say they downhill race. This whole MTB thing in Snowshoe is really happening....did I say really happening?? There are also some excellent rides here that are more conventional MTB.

Getting there
It is the Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Just google it. It is totally in the boondocks, AT&T phones work somewhat here, my verizon not at all.

These are the best trails at Snowshoe. These DH trails can compete with the West!

If you like downhill then you'll like this place. However, don't bother spending your hard earned money to ride their singletrack. You can ride much better stuff for free in nearby Slatyfork, Tea Creek, Kennison Mtn. areas. Besides, Snowshoe is one of the big dollar sponsors who supports creating more wilderness areas in WV which prohibits biking. I spent my last dollar at Snowshoe a year ago. My rating is for the XC trails, not the downhill. They do have some awesome downhill trails.
